It Starts Small

If we do not intentionally chose to pursue godliness, we will drift away from it like a sailing vessel that has been unanchored from the dock.

 Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.

Hebrews 2:1

Every Christian is tempted, even mature Christians. Our natural desires and the Holy Spirit’s desire are in contrary to each other. This is why we are encouraged and instructed to follow the Spirit’s leading each day. We need to diligently follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance to overcome sinful desires.

We have all heard a version of, “You walk the walk and talk the talk.” It’s a great representation of the God’s admonition to “walk in the Spirit.” The word walk is a present-tense verb. It means right now all the time. It indicates a way pf life to be lived right now all the time. It requires a daily habit of continual obedience.

How are we to walk?

Walk in good works

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:10

Walk Properly

Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.

Romans 13:13

Walk by Faith

 for we walk by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7

Walk in Love

² And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Ephesians 5:2

Walk as Children of the Light

for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

Walk Worthy of the Lord

so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,

As we review this list, where is your walk unsteady? What can we seek the Lord for today in our walk? What do we need the Lord’s help in transforming our steps?

Have we drifted away from the pursuit of godliness in our lives?
