Understanding – what do you chose to believe?

This month I pray we can focus our hearts on understanding that God’s mercies are new each day.

22 Because of the Lord’s faithful love
we do not perish,

for his mercies never end.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness!

Lamentations 3:22-23

The word “mercy” is translated from the word ḥeseḏ. It means “deeds of kindness.” The Lord’s deeds of kindness are new each day. As we walk this journey, I pray the goal to understanding the Lord’s daily renewal of kindness bring a new understanding to our hearts of God’s love, grace, and mercy and how it guides us to take a courageous step each day to trusting Him and living in obedience to His Word.

To begin this journey we have to come each day without our own idea that we know all of God’s Word and we understand everything. We new a daily renewing that we come to God as beggars. We need to focus our heart on His endless supply of spiritual nutrition. This requires us to trust in the Lord with ALL our heart.

The word “heart” comes was translated from the Hebrew word lēḇ. It means: inner man, mind, will, heart, understanding. When we put complete trust in God we are intentionally giving Him complete access to guiding our “inner man.” It means we are intentionally giving over our minds and our understanding. We accept that we do not know anything and that our heart’s desire and focus is on obtaining and receiving His understanding in ALL things.

That phrase at the end of verse 5, “your own understanding,” is a transliteration of bînâ and means understanding or discernment.

As we rise each day, we need to pause and ask ourselves, are we waking in our own understanding and walking in our own way, with our own discernment? Or are we walking according to His Word, His way, with His Holy Spirit discernment? Knowledge is gathering the facts, wisdom is taking the facts and making them apart of your daily living and life. It is bringing His understanding and applying it to all things in your life.

Everything? Everything! In all we do, we need to focus our hearts on bring God praise and glory and not bringing praise and glory to us. In everything, do you seek to please the Lord or your flesh? That phrase “in all“, means “all, the whole of, each, totality, every.”

Let us make a determination this morning to rise each of the next 365 days and remember that God is merciful and He gives us the free-will choice to choose Him or our way. The us grasp hold of His kindness by turning away from our understanding and our desires to be His because He promises us something extraordinary!

That phrase, “will make” is translated will direct in the King James verse. It’s transliteration from Hebrew means God will make the path “straight, agreeable, pleasing, right, straight forward, and upright.” God does not say I will make your way easy or free from troubles. He says, I will give you the path straightforward.

This year, let us embrace His mercies by intentionally acknowledging that His understanding and way is a way straightforward, no matter what the path forward brings.
