Inspiration Behind….

This idea all started over trying to come up with a camping activity. We all were in charge of coming up with a game or activity to do while camping. This year, I wanted to do a scavenger hunt, but I wanted it to be more meaningful. I made up little books with verses that reminded us all who we are in Christ. Then it was the work of finding something that represented that. The night before we went camping I was not happy with just stuff we find…I wanted to do something that would remind them. Something they could grab ahold of and remember these verses.

I can not recall how the Romans Roads bracelet came to mind. If you have ever been to church camp, chances are you made one as a kid. It is the verses of salvation. Somewhere in thinking about them and google searching them, I came across Psalms 23 bracelets. This idea is not my own idea. I could not pinpoint who came up with it…. if anyone knows, let me know. I would love to give them credit. But what started with an idea, sort of morphed into this idea.

One of my favorite parts of my morning prayer and devotion is sitting on my deck with an empty chair across from me. I believe in my heart that as I sit reading God’s Word, in prayer, and quiet, my Savior is right there with me. This bracelet is my chair in places outside my deck. It can be a moment of doubt, unbelief, fear, sadness, depression, anxiety…. whatever it might be, I can grab this bracelet and pray up what it is saying. Renew my heart with the Word of God.

The kids loved them…granted my kids are (gasp) now adults. In the days following I prayed, Father, I know I want to share you with others. How? What can I do? I am not gifted in speaking or teaching. I am not gifted in anything except a testimony I do not know how to share. While driving to work that morning, it hit me like a lightning bolt. I have my bracelet on my keys. Simple. Unique. Small, but powerful. Needless to say I leave them all over town.
