Blog Series: Waiting Through Advent

Advent. Wait. Hope.

Old English aduent, from Latin adventus ‘arrival’, from advenire, from ad- ‘to’ + venire ‘come’.

AS we are heading into the season of advent, it is easy to be swept away with plans, family events, food and gifts. It can also be a time of pain and loss for many. An advent season is a season of waiting. Trusting in a good God who holds our time and seasons.

This plan is going to be focused on Isaiah. As we look to the past we are going to have a new hope in the future. The people during Isaiah’s time were needing a hope. The Lord gave them hope through a vision to Isaiah. Isaiah had a very strong message for the people of Israel and us. When we look back, we are going to see the hope and possibility the Messiah’s coming did bring.

We see God judging His people
We see God mourning that He had to judge
We see God promise a future for them
We see His Compassion

We see how we live in the NOW and NOT yet.
