Don’t you just adore the thrill of receiving good news? We absolutely revel in it! Why? Because it brings an immense wave of joy that uplifts our spirits! Have you ever experienced the exhilarating moment of delivering a life-altering announcement? To gaze into someone’s eyes and share the incredible news that they are about to receive something so extraordinary that it will transform their life for the better? What a profound honor and privilege it is to bring such happiness to someone else!
Throughout God’s Word, we encounter magnificent angels, each one a divine messenger carrying profound messages from the Almighty! Some of these messages are warnings, others unveil revelations or impart essential instructions. Yet, among all their sacred duties, they were entrusted with delivering the most extraordinary message of all! In the awe-inspiring account of Luke 2, they received the highest honor and unparalleled opportunity to proclaim the greatest news that would forever change humanity!
As the shepherds were out keep watching over their flock:
10 But the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people: 11 Today in the city of David a Savior was born for you, who is the Messiah, the Lord.
Luke 2:10-11
Then, suddenly more angels appeared next to the angel that delivered the message. The angels did something very unique…they broke out in a full-blown worship and praise proclaiming:
14 Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and peace on earth to people he favors!Luke 2:14
Look at Luke 2:13.
13 Suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying:
Luke 2:13
Another way to interpret this scripture is through the awe-inspiring image of an entire army of angels, numbering in the tens of thousands! Imagine this magnificent Army of the Great King, boldly proclaiming His unmatched greatness! They descended upon the earth carrying the most jubilant news for all humanity, spreading the glorious message that peace had arrived in the form of a humble child born in the sacred city of David. The peace they spoke of is the profound peace of God, a divine gift available to everyone who welcomes it… yet only those who embrace its joy fully can experience its wonders!
Today, the Lord has gifted us with an extraordinary opportunity—one that mirrors the divine mission bestowed upon the angels on that sacred night: to fervently share the transformative Gospel message with the world. Like those heavenly beings, we are honored and compelled to proclaim to every heart the ultimate glory that our lives can ever know or experience: the profound joy of knowing Christ.
The Apostle Paul tells us:
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come! 18 Everything is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. 19 That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and he has committed the message of reconciliation to us.
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God.”
2 Corinthians 5:17-20
As His ambassadors, His official message carriers, everyday, we have an opportunity to proclaim to the people around us through our words and our lives that a relationship with Jesus changes everything. As ministers of reconciliation, we can deliver the good news, we can be used by God to reconcile people to Him, to change someone’s destiny now and forever. This is a serous call. But we should take time to rejoice in it! We get to be messengers of the greatest news in history!
