20 Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding irreverent and empty speech and contradictions from what is falsely called knowledge. 21 By professing it, some people have departed from the faith.

Grace be with you all.

1 Timothy 6:20-21

guard what has been entrusted to you

This pertains to the spiritual gift given to Timothy. Paul implores him to cherish and diligently utilize this treasure. This remarkable gift holds the power of teaching the Word. It calls Timothy to passionately persevere in imparting its wisdom. He must share his extraordinary abilities to uplift and inspire others.

avoiding irreverent and empty speech and contradictions

Paul has fervently addressed this type of unedifying talk throughout his book, highlighting its pervasive presence around Timothy. Such absurdities were clear and thriving in his environment. Rather than getting entangled in the foolishness of these discussions, Timothy was called to rise above. He needed to distance himself. Those fruitless debates, if pursued to their bitter end, only mislead souls. They detract from the faith that is meant to uplift and empower!
