20 To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
21 Greet all God’s people in Christ Jesus. The brothers and sisters who are with me send greetings. 22 All God’s people here send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar’s household.
23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
Philippians 4:20-23
Benediction to the Lord
Paul concludes with a powerful benediction, pouring out his heart in gratitude and giving all glory to God. What a magnificent way to wrap things up! This closing serves as a profound reminder. Every word Paul shared was not merely his own. It was divinely inspired for the glory of the Almighty. The core aim of all his teachings was to ignite a fervent desire within them. He wanted them to magnify God’s greatness with every fiber of their being.
Greet all God’s people in Christ Jesus.
Paul’s letters conclude with heartfelt greetings, a signature touch that speaks volumes. In an age where crossing paths was as rare as a shooting star, vast and treacherous landscapes made people yearn for connection. Each farewell was not merely a conclusion. It was a fervent expression of love and concern. It served as a lifeline that united brethren separated by daunting distances. What a beautiful testament to the deep bonds shaped by shared faith and unwavering friendship!
Interestingly, he boldly refers to the saints in “Caesar’s household.” We should remember that Paul was enduring house arrest in Rome. During this time, he relentlessly shared the gospel. It was having an incredible impact! Even members of Caesar’s own household were coming to Christ right before his very eyes! This powerful statement serves as a vivid reminder. Truly, all things—even Paul’s imprisonment—work together for good. This is true for those who love God and are called according to His divine purpose (Romans 8:28).
