We are going to hang out a bit longer in chapter 11 this morning and focus on verses 1-3 and 10.
O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
O come, O Come Emmanuel Lyrics
Thine own from Satan’s tyranny;
From depths of hell Thy people save,
And give them victory o’er the grave.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, Thou Dayspring, from on high,
And cheer us by Thy drawing nigh;
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
And death’s dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
Tradition says that two verses from our hymn comes from today’s passages. All over scripture, God tells us to ask for wisdom. In 11:2, we see that Jesus, the promised Messiah, will have the Spirit of Wisdom.
I did not want us to miss this! Today, let us stop and ponder upon the resource of wisdom from which we drink from.
Where are you getting your wisdom? Who are the people or places you go to to find wisdom?
As you ponder upon today’s scripture, what other characteristics are revealed about Jesus? Are you depending upon Him for those things or is there some other place or people?
Are we looking to Jesus for guidance?
