Only with the courage of God can we face our fears and do what is right. The apostle Mark’s mother, Mary, displayed great courage during a time of great persecution.
Courage is the ability to confront fear with unwavering faith. Courage is faith to face conflicts, difficult tasks, illness, and loss with strength. Courage is also the willingness to say and do what is right regardless of popularity or profitability.
We all need courage. Courage is not something that comes natural to us. Courage is something we need to intentionally seek. Our natural instinct is to strive to protect and nurture our own self-interests. Embracing what is right over what is safe is often a daunting task. We never have to face our fears alone!
The greatest source of courage is found in Jesus Christ. Recognizing Him as our provider, He gives us the power to make wise decisions, no matter the situation. He delivers us from our fears and fills us with the courage to take on new challenges, confront conflict, pursue changes, face illness and loss and a multitude of other adversaries with unwavering faith.
Mary, the mother of Mark, embraced faith-filled courage and offered her home as a place of prayer and refuge for believers during a time of sever persecution.
Courageously seek courage by implementing:
- Acknowledging God’s presence and His promises to be with you at ALL times.
- Pray God’s Word and stand firm in His assurances.
- Trust God completely with His plan for your life.
- Wait for God’s timing, being confident He knows best.
God wants us to stand firm in our faith. He wants us to exercise our God given courage at all times, even in persecution.
Is God calling you to stand firm in your faith?
