Courageously Keep the Faith

A strong spiritual foundation is vital in keeping faith in God, even through life’s most painful events. Hannah’s story inspires us to trust God and to build our faith for the future.

26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn’t act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. It collapsed with a great crash.”

Matthew 7:27-27

If you were building a house you would not frame it before you laid the foundation. The same is true with our spiritual life. Without a strong foundation, our houses crumble in the storms. Sometimes, just the mere mention of a storm shakes our foundation.

To construct a strong foundation, we must not only hear Jesus’ teachings, but we must act upon them. Jesus made it clear that we are going to encounter storms (John 16:33). He also made it very clear that if we hear His words and do not act on them, we are headed for a great fall (Matthew 7:26-27).

Hannah devoted her life to God. She consistently prayed and faithfully trusted God. It is because of her firm foundation of faith, she endured the cruel treatment by Peninnah. Hannah’s prayers were answered when God gave her a son, the great prophet Samuel.

Courageously Strengthen your Spiritual Foundation

  • Set aside time for prayer each day.
  • Read God’s Word each day. You do not need to read chapters upon chapters each day. Take it in small pieces. Journal what you read and ponder the scripture throughout the day.
  • Challenge yourself to consistently ready, study, and apply.
  • Ask a mature Christian to disciple you.

When our faith has a strong foundation, we can weather any storm, hardship, or pain and suffering because we can trust God with out future.

How strong is your spiritual foundation?
