Have you ever believed a lie?
Today we are going to courageously choose to eliminate false beliefs and misinformation while growing in an understanding of God’s Word.
Satan is the master of lies.
Satan desire to deceive, distract, and destroy us.
Throughout our pilgrimage we can find ourselves lured into a false belief as a result of misinformation from a trusted source. Friends and well meaning friends can speak a lie to us based off their own misunderstanding of God’s Word. God’s Word exposes false doctrines and misunderstandings.
Satan loves to get us to question God’s Word. This was his “attack” on Eve. Remember, satan knows the Word of God, and just as with Eve, all he has to do is craftily get us to doubt God’s Truth. These distortions of the Word of God can lead us into making very poor choices. We can even base life’s biggest and most important choices off our own misguided beliefs.
We read a very interesting story about a woman who courageously approached Joab. Joab was King David’s commander. He commanded the army and was set to destroy the city of Abel-beth-maach. As they prepared for battle, a woman comes to him and bravely she tells him not to destroy the city. The city belonged to God!
As a result of her courage the city was spared. The woman was courageous to approach Joab, and Joab was courageous to believe. The result, an entire city was spared. It is critically important that we identify and eliminate and distorted and worldly beliefs we have adopted and learn to live in the light of God’s truth as He reveals it in His Word.
Courageously embrace God’s Truth:
- Approach God’s Word inductively by putting your own beliefs aside and allowing the Word to unveil truth.
- Study God’s Word faithfully. Implement practical study for proper interpretation.
- Memorize scripture. Secure scripture in your heart and mind by memorizing it.
- As you read, study, and memorize, be mindful to identify worldly lies you believe and replace those lies with God’s unchanging truth.
God does not want us to base our choices off of misinformation. Embracing truth enables us to make wise decisions and we prosper as a result.
Can you name one worldly lie you believed and the truth of God’s Word that eliminated that lie?
