Courageously Let God Lead

Fear not for I am with you!

Today we consider Tammie Jo Shults was a female pilot who courageously landed flight 1380. Today we consider ways we can let God lead in the midst of every situation we face.

Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you; I will help you;
I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

In the middle of crisis and challenges we often try to lean on our own strength and courage but it fails and allows fear to overwhelm us. The way to shut fear up is to allow God’s courage and trust Him to lead. God, according to His mighty powerful work in us, can accomplish far more than we can think or dream (Ephesians 3:20).

The Lord does not expect us to face our challenges alone. He designed us to rely fully on Him. He also gives us a community with others to help and support us. We must let go and let God lead.

Once we acknowledge the challenge that keeps us trapped in fear, we can begin putting forth daily practices that help us overcome our apprehension to embrace God and His God given opportunities. We must ALWAYS remember that Christ calls us to lay aside our hindrances and pursue His will. We do this by keeping our eyes on Him. He is the One who perfects our faith and gives us courage. He sees us through. (Hebrews 12:1-2)

Tammie Jo Shults successfully landed Southwest Flight 1380 on April 18, 2018. One of the engines exploded mid flight. Seven passengers were injured and one died from the shrapnel that flew through the plan’s window. Tammie was one of the first combat aviators in the United States Navy. Her experience allowed her to successfully make an emergency landing which avoided a much greater tragedy and saved the lives of 144 people.

As soon as the plane landed, Tammie gave credit to God. Tammie’s friends credited her with a “deep Christian faith” and “a fierce determination and laser focus” that was accompanied by her loving personality.

Courageously Let God lead by:

  • Acknowledge your fears and pray daily for courage.
  • Reach out to godly friends or loved ones and ask them to pray.
  • Keep your eyes on Christ, His presence, His hope, and His help.
  • Completely trust God with the outcome of the situation or circumstance.

Fear is a tactic of satan, but God gives us power, love, and discipline in ALL situations.

What fears are currently causing you anxiety and apprehension?
