Courageously Walk with God

Mother Theresa had a unique perspective on all of humanity: She saw Jesus in everyone. She was a great humanitarian and her life inspires us to walk humbly with God and to lovingly serve others. Today we are going to learn four virtues to cultivate in our lives so we can walk on the path God has called us to.

Mankind, he has told each of you what is good
and what it is the Lord requires of you:
to act justly,
to love faithfulness,
and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:8

When we walk with someone, we take the opportunity to get to know them. We take the time to ask and answer questions. When we listen attentively to that person’s point of view, we take initiative to get to know that person and their life. We show interest in them. The same is true with God.

In Genesis 5:21-24 and 2 Kings 2:11, we read of faithful followers who devoted their lives to walking with God. They walked so close to Him, they were taken up with Him in lieu of having to experience a physical death. We can imagine God having said, you walked so close to me for so long, you might as well walk home with me.

When we seriously sincerely walk with God, he requires us to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly. Mother Theresa inspires us by her courageous walk with the Lord. Her love for God was poured out on others through her compassion and love for the poor. She was a world-renowned peacemaker and Nobel Peace Prize recipient.

She was considered one of the twentieth centuries greatest humanitarians who walked and lived among the poorest people in the world. Mother Theresa’s love for God gave her the courage to help people with leprosy and other infectious diseases.

I see Jesus in every human being. I say to myself this is hungry Jesus; I must feed him. This is sick Jesus. This one is leprosy or gangrene; I must wash and tend to him. I serve because I love Jesus

Courageously walk with God and walk lovingly bu adopting these virtues:

  • Affirm others regularly.
  • Be forgiving always.
  • Extend kindness daily.
  • Show gratitude consistently.

God’s Word defines what is good and right! God requires we walk humbly with Him and choose to do what is honorable and merciful toward others.

How do you characterize your walk with God?

What is one thing God is calling you to do today that is honorable and demonstrates mercy toward others?
