Courageous Discipleship

Are you ready to grow spiritually?

Today we are going to intentionally let the Holy Spirit lead us into discipleship and to be more intentional about sharing our faith with those around us. No matter if you are a few days, months, weeks, decades, or centuries into knowing Christ.

Discipleship as modeled by Christ, consists of “doing life” together. When we freely share our faith and experiences with others, we help them navigate their spiritual journey with courage and confidence. Our Christian walk is a continual striving to be like Christ and it can be difficult to navigate when we do it alone.

Eunice, along with her mother, Lois, had a profound spiritual influence on young Timothy. Because of their faith and spiritual guidance, Timothy had a “genuine faith. He was well prepared to become the apostle Paul’s most trusted companion and influential evangelist. These two godly women valued the responsibility of courageously passing their faith to the next generation. Titus tells women they are to teach what is good, so that they may encourage the young women (Titus 2:3-5).

We too must strive to intentionally engage in discipleship. We are to help the younger believers grow spiritually AND to invite spiritually mature believers to disciple us!

How to Courageously Pursue Discipleship:

  • If you have recently surrendered your life to Christ, you can disciple others by sharing your testimony of how you came to know God.
  • IF you have just started reading your God’s Word, you can disciple others by sharing what you have learned and encourage them to learn along with you.
  • If you are more mature in your faith, you have a lot to share from your knowledge of God’s Word to the mistakes you have made along the way.

We MUST embrace our responsibility to share our faith with others and encourage them in their spiritual walk.

Have you considered how much you have to offer someone else?

Do you recognize your need to be discipled?

Write down a list of names you will offer discipleship to.

Write down a list of names you can ask to help discipleship you.
