Rosa Parks was named by Time Magazine as one of the Top 20 Most Influential Women of the Twentieth Century. Rosa Parks stood against racial discrimination with courage! Today we discover ways to be brave in our faith while honoring God.
13 Be alert, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong. 14 Do everything in love.
1 Corinthians 16:13-14
Almost every day we make commitments. We decide to do or not to-do certain things throughout our lives. Many of our commitments fall by the wayside within 30 days of making them. When put to the test, we are subjected to cave and back down from our cause. Add a little worldly pressure and our resolve is crushed. So what can we do to help ourselves remain resolute?
When out resolutions are ones that honor God, He will help us keep them. Lets think and ponder upon that statement for a moment.
God directs our path, supports our efforts, and gives us everything we need to stand firm in our commitments.
God’s Word encourages us to repeatedly examine our ways (Lamentations 3:40; 1 Corinthians 11:28)
God’s Word encourages us to be STRONG and COURAGEOUS (Joshua 1:9)
God’s Word encourages us to not fear (Isaiah 41:10)
God’s Word encourages us to not give up (Galatians 6:9; Romans 5:3-5)
God’s Word also encourages us to hold each other accountable (1 Thessalonians 5:11; Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
In 1955, Rosa Parks politely refused to give up her seat on a city bus. In doing so, she took a stand against racial discrimination and ultimately propelled the civil rights movement forward in the United States. Over the next fifty years, Rosa Parks became a recognized symbol of courage and determination in the struggle to end racial segregation.
When the white driver stepped back toward us, when he waived his hand and ordered us up and out of our seats, I felt a determination to cover my body like a winter night.

When we keep our eyes on Christ and allow Him to be the source of our strength, we become God’s instrument. We become His hands and His feet. We can even become whom He uses to change the course of human history.
Courageously stand resolute in your faith by exercising the following attributes:
- Evaluate your commitments and position to ensure they are godly and necessary.
- Embrace your God-gven courage and face your challenges, even if you are afraid.
- Preserve and press on to overcome any obstacle standing in your way.
- Rely on the support of godly friends and loved ones to encourage and support you.
God expects us to be courageous and strong in everything He calls us to do.
13 I am able to do all things through him who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13
(Bold for emphasis)
Let this passage be your encouragement today and be resolute in sharing your faith with someone today!
