Relationships produce similar relationships.
What is happening in our scripture this morning? One generation served the Lord. That sounds like a wonderful thing, but some how, when it came to the next generation, they did not serve the Lord. How could this happen?
Maybe serving the Lord was not enough for the next generation. Maybe they needed something more meaningful to be inspired and motivated. Maybe they needed to see a relationship.
Have we come to this point in our walk that serving is more important than our relationship? We often get this idea that our actions will produce the best results. Maybe the Israelites mistakenly thought action was enough to inspire the next generation to follow the Lord. What if it is our relationship that actually produces the best results?
Our relationship with God matters. It matters to us. It matters to those around us. Relationships produce similar relationships. Our very relationship with God is what produces the relationships around us. A closer intimate relationship with God will produce closer intimate relationships around us.
When our hearts are given to Him, He fills our cups with everything we need. In turn that is what we give to those around us. If we are ritual, and filing ourselves with the world, we are going to give others the world in return.
Your yes to the Lord today is a yes for tomorrow’s generation.
Thoughts to Ponder:
- How can you help those around you?
- How can you encourage others to have a meaningful relationship with God?
- How does your relationship with God produce serving?
- How can you let others around you see your relationship with God?
- How does your current relationship with God show up in the lives around you?
