Wake-Up Call

It has been a few years now, but it feels like yesterday. In the midst of the darkest moment of my life, I had a wake-up call. I was struggling to find meaning and purpose. I wondered each night if the next day was going to bring me more than I could handle. I had to come to grips with an inner struggle that was difficult to see clearly.

I lost connection with the most important relationship. God was distant. I was lonely, angry, hurt, out of balance, and my relationship with my heavenly Father was completely out of sync. He was present… but what I really needed was to move in His direction. Look back is often easier than the moment experienced.

He was always there. He walked along side of everything. HE saw everything. He heard everything. He felt everything. He was always there. I had this idea that God needed me, but oh how much more I needed Him.

I realized how important each morning was with my heavenly Father. Every sunrise brought new expectations. Dreams achieved and hopes dashed, but in the midst of it all I needed Him.

I decided that each day instead of focusing on what I did not have I would focus on what I did have and not squander desires for uncontrollable outcomes.

The weight of regret and shame was crushing my spirit so instead I chose to embrace what God gave me. To be grateful for my present, anticipate my future, and reflect on the past.

Always remembering to to yield my will to His Spirit and to follow Him above all else.

After all, God is the most important relationship I can pursue today!

Begin. Begin again if you have to.

Thoughts to Ponder:

  • At the start of this series we too a deep look at our relationship with Jesus. IS this morning a morning to begin? or begin again?
  • Are you seeking Him with all your heart?
  • Have you taken that bold courageous step to decide to lend your will to Him? To chose Him as First?
