Time Out

We do not need much of a reminder that our lives are busy. We never need reminding of the work that needs to be done, meetings need attended, emails sent, kids need caring for, relationships need work, and there are places to go and people to see. This is why it is such a battle to find a place to just sit and breath, recharge and relax. This is why it is a fight to find the time to give to the most important people in our lives.

We are busy.

Some of us like being kept busy.

It makes us feel important.

David reminds us that unless God is building our lives, all our efforts are in vain. He offers up to us a promise that the Lord gives to us, even while we are sleeping.

God can do more in our sleep than all our efforts combined. Thinking about that for a moment.

God is speaking to the hearts of all of us and saying, You can take a break because I am in control here. Your world is not going to fall apart because you took some time to sit with me. Your day is not going to crash because you took the time to listen without distraction.

Thoughts to Ponder:

  • What areas of your life do you need to stop building and start trusting God?
  • If you do stop, sit, and listen, are you distraction free? DO you tend to wander away in the middle of reading His Word or in prayer?
  • How can you give the most important relationship your complete attention?
  • Are you too busy? Do you need to take some things from your plate to make room for the most important relationship you can have?
