It Starts Small

What are your gifts? What are you talents?

Did you know that every single human being on this planet has gifts and talents from the Lord? Even if we never use them, they are always there. You are gifted and have a specific calling over your life that God wants you to bring to fruition. We are not here by accident. God does not make mistakes! God has a special assignment for you. Your calling and gifts are unique to you and while you share similar gifts and callings, they were assigned to you specifically. Only you are graced to do what they Lord has called you, no one else.

There is only one of you. God created you to be unique in your personality and to be different than everyone else. He not only made you to look different, He created us to walk in the calling He has for you. You are the only one graced to do what God has called you to do. God is the only one that can reveal the calling on your life as well as your gifts and talents.

What if I do not have gifts or talents or a calling?

Before a nuclear sized bomb went off in my life, a few years ago, I had a different blog. I loved to write and share with others the little farm we were building and life in the country. I loved to write about our adventures, wins and fails in being a steward over animals, and I loved sharing our life with others. A very long time ago, I wanted to be a writer. I had an amazing high school English teacher encourage me to write. Oh how I wished – with many other things – I had taken her up on that.

When the dust started to settle The Lord laid on my hear that I had something new to write about. Him. I love to write and share His truth with others. I am sure in a decade I’ll look back and laugh at how inexperienced my writing was, but I pray each day that the Words he lays on my heart reaches the eyes of others.

Can I encourage you today, that if you are reading this right now and you have no idea what your gifts and talents are or what God has called you to do, it is time to get quiet before the Lord and pray for Him to reveal this to you. God wants us to ask Him what we are called to do and how we fit into the body of Christ.

• What am I good at and what do I enjoy? DO I have a special talent? How can this be used to serve the Lord?
• Have you spent time seeking and asking what God’s calling is over your life?
• How does today’s verses encourage you or challenge your heart?
