You are Forgiven.

Some days it can be hard to forgive ourselves for mistakes we have made in the past. You want to hear some awesome news? Jesus has already forgiven you! Yes! In the eyes of our Heavenly Father, when you received Christ as your Savior, you were washed clean and forgiven because of God’s mercy, kindness, and grace towards you!

When we make mistakes it is so easy to to feel condemned or to condemn ourselves. It is easy to feel unforgiven or to withhold forgiveness of ourselves from ourselves.

whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows all things.

1 John 3:20

Even when we “feel” guilty, God is greater than our emotions! Our emotions are based off of our current circumstance and they change all the time.

God’s Word does not change and will never change. When He says you’re forgiven, you need to receive forgiveness and give that forgiveness to yourself, no matter what your emotions try to convince you of. Emotions are fickle and fleeting. This is why God does not operate in feelings. They are shallow, but God is depth. We do not walk in our emotions, rather out faith that knows that Jesus’ blood is greater than out mistakes!

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

We walk in forgiveness when we are quick to confess our sins, repent, and turn our hearts back to Jesus!

I want to encourage us today to take some time to meditate on these verses and allow the Word of God to penetrate our hearts. Sister, we are forgiven and now it is time we forgive ourselves.

Things to Ponder:

  • Are there mistakes from my past that I still hold over my own head?
  • Do I understand God’s grace, mercy and forgiveness?
  • Am I withholding my own forgiveness?
  • What encouragement have I received from these scriptures?
