4 Even when I go through the darkest valley,
I fear no danger,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—they comfort me.Psalm 24:4
David could walk through a dark ravine, perhaps even death, fearlessly, because the Lord walked with him. David explains his lack of fear because “you are with me.” It is interesting to observe that the “shadow of death” drew David closer to the Lord. He addresses the Lord as “you,” whereas in the peaceful places he called the Lord “he.”
Do you sometimes feel like God is far away?
Heartbreak, struggles, unanswered prayer, or just filling your schedule with everything but Him can make you believe God is distant. But Scripture abounds with evidence that He’s a relational God who wants to be up close and personal with you.
Too often we don’t feel like God is near. Yet, God wants our faith that He is who His Word says He is and He will do what He promises—regardless of what our feelings and emotions tell us. Scripture says the “righteous shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17) and “without faith it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6). Therefore, we shouldn’t have to feel God to know He’s there. In fact, relying on our feelings is a direct contradiction to faith. Tell God you believe He’s there…and talk to Him, by faith, believing He is.
Hebrews 11:1 tells us faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Be assured and convicted of His presence and you will not only sense Him, you will please His heart.
We have assurance that God is with us!
IN the darkest valley or the tallest mountain God will not leave us nor forsake us!
