I am really excited about next month’s theme: Pursuing Godliness!

We are taking a deeper dive and journeying through the Word of God in regard to what Paul encouraged to Timothy and us:

But you, man of God, flee from these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness.

1 Timothy 6:11

What is Godliness?

To put it in simple terms, it is living a fruitful, obedient Christian life. It is one of seven qualities we are instructed to add to our faith after we become Christians.  Paul writes to Timothy pursue godliness.

If you have been following along, this month we are going to look at pursuing godliness. There are 16 references to godliness in the New Testament.  Most of all of them occur in 1 and 2nd Timothy and 2 Peter.  We are going to examine what Paul, Peter and James has to say about godliness and do some deep holy introspection of our hearts.

We are going to examine:

  • What godliness is
  • What it is not
  • It’s prerequisites
  • It’s barriers
  • It’s potential influence in our lives
  • Consider how to grow in godliness through personal application

At the close of the month, we will look at one of my favorite characters in the Bible: Daniel.  Daniel is an excellent person to study when we speak on the topic of godliness.  Finally, we will look at Proverbs 31 and the “Godly Woman.”

There is a free printable journal available for you to download. Included in this Journal you will find on the back pages a table set up you can fill in to compare and contrast heavenly wisdom and worldly wisdom concerning godliness. The website has this table already filled in if you get lost.

There also extra pages to include personal application of what we are studying.  It gives us prompts to ponder as we look within ourselves and the topic of godliness.

The journal is set up with the SOAP method. You are free to just download the graphic only and follow along using your own study method.

I pray this series leads us into a deeper more meaningful understanding of godliness and encourages us to really get into scripture to understanding who God has created us to be and purse.
