Mary, after having been visited by the angel and speaking about her shocking pregnancy, breaks out in a song. These scriptures are known as the Song of Mary. She praises and worships God. She could have reacted with fear, confusion, or anger, but instead she chose to respond in worship. Singing praises and worshiping God is important in our Christian lives.
The biggest book in the Bible is a song book. Music is a wonderful vessel for worship. The Christmas tradition has long been steeped in moving songs such as “Mary did you know?” or “Joy to the World”. We remember songs like “Silent Night” and “We Three Kings”. These songs tell a story of the long-awaited Savior from God in an emotional way. They stir our love and adoration for Jesus, our Lord. Praise and worship awakens our dull hearts to a love for God.
