Good News, Great Joy, For All People

Christmas can be described as “good news.” In the King James version, it is spoken as “good tidings.” According to the Blue Letter Bible, the Greek word used is euangelizō. It means to declare, bring (declare, show) glad (good) tidings, preach (the gospel).

Christmas is in deed good news because God has sent His Son, the Messiah as He promised! Many generations had waited in hopelessness and despair. Many generations had waited and died before He had ever arrived.

Christmas is also great joy! The good news of the gospel causes our hearts to rejoice and burst open with praise and worship. In this new King, the hopeless find hope and the lost are found! Christmas was for all people! This good news of joy was for the poor shepherds and rich wisemen from faraway lands. It was for Jewish families then and for westerners today. This good news of great joy is for you and for me. Let us rejoice together!

Ponder: Which phrase do you need to be reminded of most: good news, great joy, for all people?
