Jesus was never like other religious leaders on this earth, then and now. Muhammad, Buddha, Socrates, and Confucius were never said to be divine. Jesus is divine. Jesus was God wrapped in flesh and displayed as a baby. This is what makes the first Christmas so compelling. The God who threw the expanse of the universe was contained in the little baby Jesus. The God who made all the animals that were in that stable that night, was born next to His own creation. He was carried by a mother who He created. The hands that took care of Him were the hands that He created.
Jesus is the Mighty God, and Prince of peace foretold in Isaiah 9.
For a child will be born for us,
a son will be given to us,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
He will be named
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
Our scripture today reflects that He is the Prince of Peace and reconciliation to the world by dying on a cross. Christmas tells us the story of God who came from the glory and splendor of heaven to bring people peace and reconciliation. He came for you and me, to bring us back to Him.
Ponder: What does the peace of Christ and and His reconciliation mean to you?
