Long ago, a promise was made that from the line of King David a Savior would be born. Joseph was from that line. All of the line of David knew some day another great King would be born, but not like this. Joseph did not think that his fiancée would become pregnant before their wedding and that he would raise a son, not from him. Even more, he did not think that a controversial pregnancy would be the long await king that was promised to his family line. The new King of Israel was about to be born in poverty to an unmarried couple. How could this be right?
Despite his doubt. Despite his fear. Despite the confusion, Joseph believed. Joseph believed the angel of the Lord and devoted himself to obedience. Instead of running from a hard situation that was not in his own life plans, he trusted God and His promises.
That first Christmas day, Joseph held a baby Jesus and knew God’s wisdom was greater!
Ponder: How can we respond to God in the middle of fear, doubt, and confusion?
