The awareness of God’s presence energizes for our work.
Jesus is our supervisor over all we do. He supervises us while we work, play, and spend time in His Word learning. He’s our ultimate CEO and teacher! He not only watches us from afar, He is with us in all we do. We need to give Him a full day’s labor regardless if we think the management over us is unfair, we can not find the fishing hole, or we are at odd over theology with those around us.
Jesus is ultimately the one we serve and He is always on site in all we do. We need to do our best in all we do because the Holy Spirit is present, equipping us, and energizing us.
We make this terrible mistake of dividing our lives up. We get this idea that Monday through Friday we go to work. Saturday we play. Sunday we worship. God has not designed our life this way. There is no issue with working, playing, or worshipping on certain days, but we must be careful to not exclude Jesus. We do not go to church on Sunday and pull Him off the shelf to come with us and by Sunday afternoon put Him back on the shelf.
You can not worship on Sunday and then meander in to the week. He need to honor and glorify Him in everything we do. Why? Because it eliminates the temptation of doing our work merely to be seen by men.
““No one can serve two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
Matthew 6:24 CSB
Jesus wants us to commit ourselves wholeheartedly to Him in all we do because we can not serve two masters. You can not serve Him on Sunday and the world the rest of the six days a week. It is all or none. Does this mean that mundane job is the Lord’s work? Yes!! Ministry is not just done at the building you attend to worship. We must worship God everyday of the week.
On Sunday we gather as the body of a Christ and worship together to be encouraged and together in the presence of God. We worship on Sunday with expected anticipation to learn and hear for God His word for our lives. Monday through Saturday we show our devotion to Him by working hard for Him. We have an exalted status as a child of God and our workplaces should be better off because we are there.
“knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.”
Colossians 3:24 CSB
What does your testimony in the work place speak of the God you profess to serve on Sunday look like, sound like, act like? can anyone “accuse” you and put you on trial for being a Christian with evidence? Or do you just blend into the crowd without standing out?
Are you a faithful and dependable employee because you are serving God?
Does your attitude reflect the joy of Christ being your CEO?
In all we do, we serve Christ or the world. In all we do, we testify who our God is to us. Being energized is serving God in all areas of our life.
