An eager anticipation of the return of Christ keeps us living a life of productivity.

In scripture we find three admonitions given to us about the Lord’s return:

Watch Faithfully

God’s Word encourages us to:

Be alert, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong.
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16‬:‭13‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled and put on the armor of faith and love, and a helmet of the hope of salvation.”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“There were indeed false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, and will bring swift destruction on themselves.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭CSB‬‬

God’s Word is encouraging us to stand fast with strength and courage, watch soberly, and arm ourselves with wraith love and salvation. As we watch, we aware of false prophets and teachers, discerning the spirits, and rejecting all who do not confess that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh.

Jesus spoke to John and gave him a great promise:

““Look, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who is alert and remains clothed so that he may not go around naked and people see his shame.””
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Work Diligently

Why did Jesus leave us here on earth? Would it not be amazing if the instant we received Him, we were swept up into heaven? Jesus still has work for us to do. We are to be willing to be the Lord’s witnesses. It is our duty to tell of the love of God and the atoning death of Jesus Christ. We are to testify what he has done in our own lives through our words and testimony of the example of our living.

Wait Peacefully

We are to wait peacefully as scripture commands us. There are more than 400 times we are commanded to fear not, but enjoy peace. He calls us to peace as we wait for His return. Apart from Jesus there is no peace. Peace does not exist in humans outside of Christ. With Jesus we can experience peace that surpasses all rational and settles deep within us.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬ ‭CSB‬‬

We are to seek and find this peace as we wait for the Lord’s return.

When He comes, will he find you among those who love a him and call Him Savior? Will He find you doing what he has commanded for your life? Are you going to be eager and ready to see Him?

How are you going to choose to respond to the Lord’s call for your life? We is coming back, and if not in our lifetime, you will stand before Him either way.
