Many Christians consent to living what they deem as an adequate life. They go to church. They read their Bibles. They go through the motions and deem themselves a “good” Christian, but they do not have or enjoy the power, peace, and joy that comes with an abundant life Jesus promises us.

A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.
‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭10‬ ‭CSB‬‬

When storms in life come, their counterfeit Christian life no longer brings comfort and it becomes a burden when the storms of adversity come. This is not at all the life we were created for. God does not call us to be marginal. God does not call us to a life of religious ritual.

God desires to have a daily relationship with us. He wants us to experience His presence and trust Him for wisdom, courage, and strength in all situations. The Lord wants to glorify Himself through us in every thought we have, every decision we make, and in every step we take. He desires to shine in our lives by illuminating our talents, traits, and personality as we walk in obedience to Him.

In order for us to live as we were created, we need to be broken. We need to lay our pride in the dust and decide and declare, not my way but your will. The only true Christian life is a life in which Christ lives through us. Can you speak the same as Paul declared:

“I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2‬:‭20‬ ‭CSB‬‬

How do we allow Jesus to live in and through us?

First, you spend time in studying the Word of God, prayer, worship and fellowship with other believers. You not only learn about Him, but you listen to Him through His Spirit. His Spirit teaches us how to love Him, live for Him, and walk in His ways.

Second, obedience. This is the most important aspect of our relationship building. To be obedient is to trust Him that as He speaks truth into your heart, you trust it as absolute truth and take the step in obeying what he speaks. The God who has redeemed us will not leave us hanging. He does and will teach us continually. We must die to the notions of what a Christian life looks like and experience a true life in Him.

Do you truly have a peace that surpasses all circumstance and situations? Is there joy like a river flowing from your heart? Do you love without reasoning those around you? Do you desire to be in the presence of God?

Or are you just ritually living each day without?

Does your life reflect the Gospel of Jesus or do you just blend into the world with everyone else?
