The key to winning spiritual warfare is from the posture of your knees.

First, I need to say that we do not fight men or circumstances. We fight against evil.

“Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens. For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬-‭13‬ ‭CSB‬‬

We do not fight against one another but against the evil that influences it’s dark destruction through others. I’ve begun a leg in my journey of seeking to understand the darkness, evil, and dark forces that roam about looking to destroy. I had this “Hollywood” view on evil. It was devils in red capes with horns marching about. In my mind, I made a mockery of evil.

Evil is very real and a present danger to our discipleship and relationship with our Heavenly Father. Faith is the key to winning the attacks of evil. Faith says, “I believe you (God) will.” God wins our battles and the victory is His. But what does this mean?

In our battle to overcome our enemy, we might pray this way: “I believe You (God) will defeat the enemy and cause him to flee from me as I resist him and put my trust in you.”

This is a prayer David prayed over and over again.

My God, I trust in you. Do not let me be disgraced; do not let my enemies gloat over me.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭25‬:‭2‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“I hate those who are devoted to worthless idols, but I trust in the Lord.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭31‬:‭6‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Perfect faith views all our battles as already being won and God is the one gaining the victory. David said, “In you I trust.” What he was saying is, “It is done.” We read that David spoke to the Lord and over and over again said, “You (God) are perfect in nature. You do all things well. You have victory over all my enemies.” God IS, not was. He did not speak to the Lord in past tense, is spoke in future tense. So in all battles: GOD IS! David never said, “Well I hope you (God) can win this.”

When we exercise this kind of faith, we grow our spiritual maturity. By trusting God in every situation, every circumstance, and in every relationship, we developed a personal history in which we obey and He remains faithful in His loving care of us.

It is absolutely I,ossicle to resist evil in our own strength and power. You can for a while, but on your own you will fail. If you do not truly believe Jesus Christ can and will defeat evil, you will not be able to withstand the wiles of the devil. You also can not stand if you are not completely surrendered to God in all areas of your life. When we refuse to submit, we are telling the Lord, “I can handle this. I do not need your help.”

His is precisely where the devil wants us! He tries to influence us to trust in our own ability and not the omnipotent God. It is also the place he launches his greatest attacks. He knows we are completely defenseless against him.

The good news is that God has given us a measure of faith to develop. He gives us the ability to trust Him. He gives us free Will to surrender to him. We can stand and resist the devil, but it’s only by the power of God we can stand. Only God can rush to our defense and He hears us!

When we pray, satan flees!

God is our victory! Victory comes from the posture of being on our knees in prayer to Him acknowledging the battle is His and it is already won!
