The weather this year in Colorado was really different. Up until I left it had rained just about every other day. For it to continue to rain like it did to the end of July was just different that what I was used to. When I say rain, I mean buckets of rain. The streets would flood! The storms were sometimes violent with hail and wind.
God’s Word is an immovable anchor in times of storms!
We can all recall times we wished we had a sure word from God. A word we could cling to when the wind and waves, doubt and fear, arose. God knows when we need encouragement. God knows when we need guidance. God knows when we need hope. This is why he gave His unfailing promises. They are specific promises so that we might understand his nature. I the deepest emotionally devastating times, His promises are essential to our spiritual well-being.
His word is a compass and a guide. His word is the greatest and only instruction book to life we need. God’s Word is an instruction manual and the only resource of wisdom and truth we need. You can not bake a cake without a recipe, nor rebuild a car engine without a manual.
At times, God brings specific Scripture to mind that ministers His hope. His Word ministers reassurance to our heart. At times His Word challenges us to seek Him and pray for His wisdom concerning certain issues. When we seek and look to God in faith, He will lead us according to His Will and not our will. We have to remember this does not always happen overnight. So many times God wants us to meditate on certain scripture over a period of time before He gives guidance.
“Then King David went in, sat in the Lord’s presence, and said, Who am I, Lord God, and what is my house that you have brought me this far?”
2 Samuel 7:18 CSB
King David went and sat before the Lord when he sought the Lord’s heart in rebuilding the temple. He did not order His mend to begin construction. He waited upon the leadership and guidance of the Lord. what was interesting was God wanted David’s son to oversee the temple being rebuilt instead.
God honored David’s attitude and gave him a wonderful promise:
“Your house and kingdom will endure before me forever, and your throne will be established forever.’
2 Samuel 7:16 CSB
The Lord honors our desire to seek Him in ALL things. If we come to God expecting Him to answer, He will never disappoint us.
“God is not a man, that he might lie, or a son of man, that he might change his mind. Does he speak and not act, or promise and not fulfill?”
Numbers 23:19 CSB
Not too long ago I encountered an “out of the blue” storm. I got into an accident and totaled my truck. All I could think was God, I just ruined your plans. Maybe this plan was my own plan and not really His. Maybe I my imagination conjured up the word of God and I am a fool or crazy. My heart began to get very unsettled. I sat in quiet and prayed to my Heavenly Father. I spoke these very words to Him. More like confessed them and asked for help. I laid them upon His altar and chose to just trust. Within a day God lifted the valley to the mountain top. Trust.
God is not a liar and His promises are unfailing. He IS and WILL. Let His Word be the anchor that holds you I place during storms!
