type of food for the mind feeds the thoughts.

What we feed our minds is what the mind will think. Our mindset is set upon what you put into it. If you put junk into it, your mindset will be junk. If you put healthy things into your mind, your mindset will be healthy.

A mindset is impossible to change without changing what your mind is filled with. It is not an easy task. A mindset is what controls you. The mind is what you control.

For example, if I choose to watch a violent show filled with sex, hate, filthy language, and violence, that fills my mind with those things. So it becomes automatic and prone to promiscuity, violent behaviors, cursing because that is what it is being fed. It’s an automatic reaction because it is in our mindset. It has been said that ninety five percent of our behaviors are automatic and come from the mind set we have.

The only way to change the default settings in our mindset is to change what we expose our minds to. We do this by overflowing our conscious mind with the a word of God. When it gets full, it then slips into the unconscious mind. A good way to explain this is when we set goals. Goals are the conscious part of our mind. Reaching the goals is the task of the unconscious mind. Our unconscious mind does not operate by reason or logic, therefore it believes anything it is told. So if it you are told over and over again that you are stupid, it will believe you are stupid. if it told over and over again sex is a selfish means of pleasure, it will program the behavior of selfishness into the act of sex. If it hears curse words over and over again, the automatic response of program is that you will curse. Our sub-conscience mind believes anything that the conscience mind constantly tells it.

It is so important we feed our minds with information for the word of God! Not just a little bit here and there or on Sunday mornings. We need to feed our minds as much as we possibly can through out the day and week. The Holy Spirit takes that information, which we fed our mind, and turns it into revelation. It can be revealing promises and truth about the character of our Heavenly Father. When the light of truth illuminates us, that becomes our conscious thought. For example:

11 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them shout for joy forever.
May you shelter them,
and may those who love your name boast about you.

12 For you, Lord, bless the righteous one;
you surround him with favor like a shield.
Psalm 5:11-12

As read this scripture we learn that God’s love is a shield that surrounds us and keeps us safe. You have to decide if this is truth and you believe it. If you do, your conscience changes what your believe. The more you you focus I this passage and trail of thought, the more it begins to change your unconscious mindset. perhaps before you believe God did not protect you and you had the task of protecting yourself. As you begin to study God’s love and protection, the Holy Spirit behind to reveal it to you. Once you have determined it to be truth, you begin to rewrite the automatic reaction to rely upon yourself for protection.

Every time we give the Holy Spirit opportunity to bring revelation out of the Word of God, He turns it into a manifestation in our unconscious mind. This how God’s Word and the work of the Holy Spirit produce visible results in our lives. Before there can be a manifestation, you must allow the Holy Spirit to bring revelation into your spirit.

Before a revelation can be made, you must fill your mind with the Word of God. All revelation comes through the Spirit by the Word of God. You can not change your mindset until you start to feed your conscious mind with the things of God. Fill your day with scripture through reading, memorizing, and meditating upon scripture. Listen to podcasts, read or listen to Christian books. Listen to worship music. Fill your every day with the Word of God and the Holy Spirit will make it come alive and the change in your mindset (behavior) will transform your life!

Here are some of the ways I fill my day with God’s Word

The Bible App – it has a ton of Bible study plans that range from a few days to an entire year. It also has a verse of the day with a short video of the meaning of the verse. You can also listen audibly to the Word of God.

Love Worth Finding Ministries – I love to listen to Adrian Rodger’s past sermons. He has many series devoted to preaching the truth. They are 30-40 minutes long. He covers just about any topic you can think of. You can access them online or in their app. I love the “out of the vault” sermons. His preaching is simple and to the point.

Klove – this is my go-to radio station for filling my day with gospel music. This type of music may not be fore you, so I encourage you to download a music platform app and find a station that works for you. Maybe it’s old time gospel, country gospel, etc. I do have Spotify and I do pay for a subscription, only because ads drive me batty. I have stations from today’s contemporary Christian music to that old time gospel. Sometimes I just listen to songs without singing. If I am commuting for work or just cleaning my house, I always try to have Christian music playing. Those two times are when my mind has the greatest chance to go places it shouldn’t. By that I mean worry, allow intrusive thoughts, etc. instead I just listen to the words and think about them.

Audible – perhaps you are not a reader, but prefer to listen to books instead. I love to hold a book so I can dog ear pages and mark in it. Reading or listening, find topics you are interested in and search for books with those topics. Perhaps it’s learning about anger, worry, faith, or whatever struggles you are wanting to over come or areas of faith you want to make stronger.

Podcast App – This is the app I use to listen to favorite authors, commentators and teachers. There are so many different apps out there. Find a good podcast to listen to.

Blogs! – there are so many blogs I follow I couldn’t list them all.

There are so many awesome amazing ways to fill our day with the Word of God. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to drop them in the comments.

Today, consider what you are feeding your mind. What can you replace in your day?
