Thank you, Jesus

Besides everything else, I have been thinking about Mothers a day. Today is a day in which we celebrate mothers. I have tried to sum up what being a mother is and I can only think of one word. Actually it is a name: JESUS!

I thought about how my Heavenly Father chose me. When he created my three amazing kids, he chose me as the person who would carry them, give birth to them, and be apart of their lives until God’s work is finished in me. He chose me! Of all the women in this world, he chose these three children to come into this world through me.

I am not worthy of such great love or blessing. God’s great blessing to me reveals just how much he loves me. He loves me so much he said you will be a mother. I am not a mother under my own power, but by the power of Him! He shows me his love through His amazing blessing.

My kids have been such an amazing source of encouragement over this last year. Psalms 128 is an amazing picture of what a family is to be. To sum it up: sharing of faith, food, and fellowship. To really start my journey, part of it had to be giving an account of myself and to confess myself to them of all the wrong doing I had done that had an impact on their lives. They graciously gave me forgiveness and just as God’s Word testifies, true forgiveness brings His reconciliation to our relationships.

Their forgiveness is a lifetime of gift to my life. That whole experience taught me what true redemption and forgiveness is compared to false redemption and fake confessions. I told them that their gift, to pay my debt I owed them (forgiveness) was a gift that I would never take for granted and they never had to gift anything else to me because it would be the most treasured gift they had given me.

Back to Psalms. I pray this over my family everyday. I pray for the opportunity to share our faith, find time to all be together (technology is such a blessing) and to fellowship. I have been blessed to get to know each of them and to have the opportunity to share my faith and them share their faith. We share our struggles and victories. We praise and worship in the good times and blessings, and come together in prayer for the struggles. We can talk about the things that happen and not feel ashamed or guilty. We can confess ourselves to each other and lift each other up.

I’m blessed to see the Holy Spirit work in their lives and through them. Sometimes when we are all on FaceTime and we are sharing, someone will say something that “jumps off the page” to me. It’s exciting to watch the Holy Spirit work in their lives to help them overcome mental health issues, heart issues, and to watch their faith grow. Their love, compassion, kindness, generosity, are all the fruit of the Spirit that is in them. They are such an encouragement to my life.

I am beyond thankful to a gracious God who never gave up on me and has amazing ad wonderful plans for our lives. His purpose shines through us and guides us and leads us to Him and his blessing and glory. I thank Jesus daily for not only the blessing of children, but the blessing of friendship. I thank Him for His Spirit to come and dwell within them and to show His love, grace, and mercy through them.

This Mother’s Day means the most to me because it is not a day spent honoring me, it is a day spent honoring, worshiping, and thanking my Heavenly Father for creating me. For choosing me, me of all people, to work life through me and to be apart of their lives. He started with something small, and has worked an amazing blessing! Honor and glory be to God my Father for his love, grace, and mercy!

This is sort of like our theme song. When one of us falls, we fall together. With Christ we rise together.
