How does impossible become possible?

14 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. John 14, 16-18

Impossible becomes possible by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Here are the most treasured words: I will come to you.

Christ in the Christian is the Holy Spirit. Here Jesus says I will abide. The word “abide” means settle down in you permanently! Our hearts are not a hotel with a checkout time. Christ dwells in us FOREVER!

Comfortless, in verse 18, means the helpless orphans. Like orphans, he scoops us up. He invites us into his house and lays a great table before us. He anoints us with healing and gives us bread of life. Jesus, dwells within us forever. But why? Why has the Holy Spirit come?

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; John 14:16

Another here means of the same kind. Jesus says you will receive someone just like me. I will come to you and you will receive another who is exactly like me. Everything that Jesus is, the Holy Spirit is. The Holy Spirit comes to produce the works of Jesus!

We often coin the term, during troubles, What would Jesus Do? It’s not a bad question, but we don’t have to ask this question. He lives within us through the Spirit. When the Spirit dwells in us, has control in us, we have the heart and mind of Jesus speaking to us. Jesus is here! The Christian life is lived through Jesus, not by us. We never have to wonder about what it was like living in Jesus’ time, because we are living with him now.

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. John 16:7

In the flesh, Jesus was limited. He could only be at one place at a time. As the Holy Spirit he is able to be everywhere all at once. Jesus is the invisible part of the Christian and we are the visible part of Christ. Think about that for a moment. Your words, your actions, your thoughts, who do they reflect?

The Holy Spirit has come to protect the will of our Heavenly Father.

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26

2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 1 John 2:1

The Holy Spirit protects the will of Christ. He is our advocate. He represents the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holt Spirit pleads the cause of Jesus. He guards the name of Jesus. He protects the interest of Jesus. Jesus is my advocate to my Heavenly Father, and the Holy Spirit is Jesus’ advocate. Conviction is the power of the Holy Spirit. To teach us, to remind us of what has been spoken.

The Holy Spirit comes to help us. We receive the words of Christ through him.

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26

The Holy Spirit is our teacher. He brings things to my remembrance.

12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. John 16:12-13

The Holy Spirit is my teacher. I have struggled a bit in the things the Holy Spirit has spoken. Mostly because I have to remember that my Heavenly Father’s ways are way above mine, and his thoughts are way above my understanding. I struggled because God is not a fortune teller. These verses say I will show you things to come. I believe he has shown me things to come. It’s not a perfect clear picture of tomorrow. I struggle because currently, what is going on in my life is not what he has spoken. I get to doubting because of circumstances. Can The Spirit reveal “tomorrow?” I believe he can. We just have to get our eyes off the circumstances and keep looking up.

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:9-14

There are spiritual truths we do not get through hearing (preaching), reading and observation. I like to call these moments the winner winner chicken dinner bell that goes off when the lightbulb comes on. We don’t just get truth through our eyes and ears. It comes deep within from a small quiet voice.

The Holy Spirit comes to magnify the worship to Jesus.

14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. John 16:14

The mark of a spirit filled person is glorifying Jesus Christ.

How does the impossible become possible?

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13

26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26

Through the Holy Spirit, impossible becomes possible through Jesus from our Heavenly Father. We are completely incapable of changing ourselves. We are completely of doing anything successful, without Christ. We are completely incapable of having a mind, words, or heart like Christ without the Holy Spirit.

That mountain you are staring at, won’t be moved without Christ.

The walls you are marching around, won’t fall without Christ.

The struggle of addiction, won’t be overcome without Christ.

The pain and suffering, won’t be healed without Christ.

The broken relationships, won’t be reconciled without Christ.

Only with the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, and having complete control, can the impossible become possible.
