#5 Helmet of Salvation
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Ephesians 6:17
The word salvation here can be translated deliverance and sanity. A mind under the control of God is the mind of Christ. I had been living in pure insanity. My actions kept repeating the same old things with a false religious hope something would change. By worldly definition, that is insanity. Not just physical insanity, but insanity in my mind. I knew my thoughts were not right because my thoughts led me to do the same thing over and over. Even deeper, I was living a spiritual insanity. Without have a moment of true redemption, and a true surrender, my spirit was believing the same old lie and my integrity built a character of fear, doubt, unbelief, pride and insanity.
Attack: Once the devil has your heart, he has your mind. He leads us on the path of continuous dead ends and ruin. He focuses our minds on selfish desires and he controls us through fear, depression, anxiety and other ailments.
Defense: Jesus! A person without the fullness of the Holy Spirit has a form. Of insanity. Jesus, through the Holy Spirit brings us certainty that his Word is absolute truth. He brings us confidence that we can stand on rock solid truth. He brings us the peace to know that you know. Believe what has been spoken.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:10
Put on THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD! Each piece of this armor is Jesus
Do you have integrity? Purity? Tranquility? Certainty? Sanity? If not, search that piece of armor and seek Jesus. Only through the power of Him can we be protected by each piece of Him in us.
We have the pieces, but now we must step into the battle. How do we have a guaranteed victory? Our victory comes from our stance. Remember the words “stand” and “withstand” in the verses in Ephesians 6:13-14. Our stance is to stand fully equipped with Jesus and we are to withstand the attacks of evil. We stand in the victory Jesus has won.
We don’t stand to fight for victory. It is already won! We fight from the stance of victory. We pick up our weapon the sword of truth!
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Ephesians 6:17
Our sword is the is powerful! Our sword is the Word of God! His written revealed truth and the truth the Holy Spirit speaks to us.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
God’s Word is quick, which translated means it’s alive. It moves within you. It is our guide to transforming our very thoughts and intents in our heart. God’s truth is what transform our integrity and influences the transformation of our character. God’s Word is power, which is translated full of energy. God’s truth energizes and motivates our heart. It motivates us to change our integrity from living in the world’s truth to standing upon His absolute truth. This change of integrity motivates the change in our character.
Jesus told the devil three times: IT IS WRITTEN! (Matthew 4:4,7,10) God’s word written upon our hearts is our defense against the wiles of the devil. When he comes sniffing and knocking we ca;use God’s absolute truth against him with confidence knowing he hates truth and flees from it.
Finally, we put Jesus on, arm ourselves with God’s word, and receive the provision of the Spirit.
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Ephesians 6:18
We stand and fight from our knees. Sounds counterintuitive, but our battle is won through our prayer life and worship. Our supply line comes from our Heavenly Father. He gives us all we need and he gives us our battle commands. God is our commander and chief. It’s through praying in the Spirit we make our concessions and receive what we need and God’s spoke will desires and directions.
Prayer. Prayer is my weapon. Worship is my weapon! I finally truly understood I needed to daily put Jesus on, get into God’s Word, but now I needed to understand….. in the Spirit.
